Shipping a car
Do I need an account to get a price?
No. Fill in the quote form on the home page: vehicle, pickup and delivery places, carrier type and dates. We email you a confirmation code; enter it to start the auction. Carriers then bid on your shipment in real time.
How long does the auction take?
You choose the duration when you post the shipment (from 3 to 48 hours). You can accept an offer as soon as one you like appears; you do not have to wait for the auction to end.
What does the price include?
The price shown to you is the carrier's offer plus the 10% Carshipex service fee. There is no extra broker markup. You pay the 10% as a deposit when you book; the carrier's offer is paid to the carrier at pickup or delivery.
Open or enclosed carrier?
Open car haulers are the standard and the least expensive option. Enclosed trailers protect the vehicle from weather and road debris and usually cost 25 to 45 percent more. Choose "Enclosed" for classic, exotic or freshly restored cars.
My car does not run. Can it still be shipped?
Yes. Mark "Does the car drive?" as no when you post it. Inoperable vehicles need a winch, so fewer carriers can take them and the price is higher. Listing an inoperable car as running usually leads to a re-price or a refused pickup.
Where is my order number and confirmation code?
Both are in the email we sent when you posted the shipment. Use them on the order lookup page to open your offers, booking and status.
How do I pay?
After you accept an offer you have 30 minutes to enter the pickup and delivery details and pay the deposit with a card through Stripe. The balance is paid to the carrier directly, by the method you pick during booking.
Can I cancel?
Before you accept an offer: yes, at any time, free. After booking: free up to 24 hours before the scheduled pickup, and the deposit is refunded. Later cancellations forfeit the deposit. If the carrier cancels, your deposit is refunded in full. Details are in the Terms of Service.
What should I do at pickup and delivery?
Walk around the vehicle with the driver and make sure its condition is recorded on the bill of lading, with photos if possible. Remove personal items and leave about a quarter tank of fuel. At delivery, inspect again before signing. Report any damage on the bill of lading and to us within 48 hours.
For carriers
How do I start bidding?
Create a carrier account, confirm your email, and complete the carrier profile with your MC/DOT numbers, W-9, insurance certificate and signature. Our compliance team reviews the documents; once your account is active you can bid on any open load from Find loads.
What happens after my offer is accepted?
You get an email. The shipper has 30 minutes to complete the booking; after that the load appears under Not Confirmed. Open it, add your dispatcher's name and phone, and confirm. Then contact the shipper to schedule the pickup.
How and when do I get paid?
The shipper pays your full offer directly to you at pickup or delivery, by the method they selected (shown on the load). The 10% deposit the shipper paid online is the Carshipex service fee and is not deducted from your offer.
Can I change or withdraw an offer?
Yes, while it is still open. Go to My offers: editing creates a new offer and withdraws the old one. Accepted offers can be cancelled from your loads list, but repeated cancellations affect your rating and account status.
